Power: These are possible power/upgrades, following what Gilbert's biological weapon, known as a ‘chain’ Raven and or his status as a Baskerville is capable of. However, these are just options, and one would be fine to work with just one power:
Healing from most deadly wounds. Baskervilles have been known to recover from nearly any injury. This does not include regenerating limbs or .
Sealing Powers: Being able to seal the powers of others. In canon, he uses this to seal the powers of the B rabbit. Blue fire: Where the Raven manifests and has the ability to breathe blue fire, which can even harm a nearly immortal Baskerville; it does not seem to be as great of a strain on the user.
Personality:
Within his canon, Gilbert may have been one few characters that have gone through the most outward change in his personality. As he grew up and his circumstances changed, he outwardly changed with it. When we see him at the Baskerville estate, Gilbert is cheerful, sweet, and devoted to the Baskervilles. As he grows up, he changes, becoming clumsy and shy, unsure of himself; then finally, at his current state, he becomes more of a stoic, seeming cold and emotionally distant. Strangers often mistake his physical distance from groups and quiet demeanor for snobbishness or perhaps arrogance.
The truth is, Gilbert is still quite sensitive and cares very much about what people think of him, and how they would react. In large groups, he tends to be nervous, and unable to cope with the social anxiety of what people may think. Some people in canon would remark that this is nerves, or cowardice.
Speaking of cowardice, with two rare exceptions, Gilbert is known to be shy and nervous of women. Other then Alice (who likely was not considered a woman, but an enemy to be destroyed), the exception to the lack of social anxiety and a healthy relationship with the opposite gender are Ada and Sharon. With Ada, there has been a long standing friendship, and a close association with Oz; it's possible that with her friendly personality and similar looks, it could have been a touchstone and a source of comfort for Gilbert in the years during his search. With Sharon Rainsworth, there was a long standing relationship that was based on respect for each others abilities, working with Pandora, and the gains of first finding Oz, then Alice's memories, then the sealed stones. In short, it was a familiar working relationship; not necessarily close by any means, but one where there was an understanding and mutual respect.
Otherwise, when it comes to women, and other situations where Gilbert is uncomfortable, he will have a display of nerves. This has changed over the years. From where he used to cry in a sheer emotional reaction to the situation, Gilbert instead uses temper to snap back and protect his frail ego. If he can hide behind something (or someone) physically or emotionally to have a certain emotional stability, he will. To protect himself, Gilbert can be blunt to the point of rudeness.
With such manners, there can be misunderstandings as to who Gilbert truly is. In meeting people for the first time, Gilbert is quiet, seeming cold and distant. This is a misconception however; he merely does not wish to be emotionally hurt. He is not a man with many friends, but the few he has, whether he wanted them or not, he keeps close to his heart. With his abandonment issues from being given up multiple times, it is understandable that he can be emotionally clingy. However, this also gives him a large loyalty streak. If his friends are attacked, he will defend them; if they need help, he will offer it. When it comes to his first loyalty-Glen or his replacement, Oz-he tends to be more extreme.
Both of these figures in his life, he will protect with his own. True, Glen's loyalty was first induced by a seal in his left hand, and continues to this day-but he loved him too. Glen had rescued him and his brother from the streets and being used by other people as projects or pets; he was given a duty in which he was given respect. Most importantly, he was loved and happy in Glen's care. Glen genuinely cared for the young Gilbert, and it showed. The same could be said for Oz: Gil loved Oz, and would give anything to ensure his safety. Their friendship is partially how the situation became so complicated.
This does not mean Gilbert is unable to form his own opinions. But he is not one to waste words. Often, if he thinks that a friend has gotten off the wrong track and needs to be corrected, he will want to nudge them the right way, not shove. When he is angered, Gilbert will not hesitate to blister some ones ears for it. But even as he snaps, and growls, he shows that he cares; he will offer a nudge, a smile, words that assure rather then tear down egos and pride. He shows he cares for people in the little ways, even if he does not say any of it directly. For his master, he will show most often in the softening of his eyes, and his smiles. When he is with the person he calls master, Gilbert tends to be more relaxed, happier, even when he’s worrying over their person. It can be a cheerful grumpiness that is rarely seen with Gilbert’s actions around other characters.
The way he can react to the issue of the master, the person that Gilbert needs in order to feel whole, is a minefield. It could be argued that this is partially induced when Gilbert was taken into the Baskerville household, and hypnotized to protect Glen, the master of the house. However, it is more likely that the hypnotism merely reinforced Gilbert’s feelings in not being thrown away, and to be useful, bringing up his trust and abandonment anxieties. If he was useful after his mother gave him and his brother up, it meant food, shelter, and a lesser likelihood of a beating. He has spent his whole life needing to be useful, needing to do something for someone else's sake. When given the choice to start over completely, he fell into old patterns. Seeking approval to his 'special person' may be the only way he feels he will be truly loved.
These are not words to be used lightly. He has been known to have problems due to not having that person in his life. There was no sign of head trauma in the past, when he was sucked into the Abyss, and brought into a new time line. Most likely he had the potential to remember all these time, but he had no desire to. Indeed, he denied it, and mentally ran from the past. If Gilbert had remembered, he may not have found the desire to live, and wasted away. Luckily, he was able to find a replacement for Oz.
Without realizing it, he was using Oz for his own needs; that to serve the master that he had lost, and needed for his sanity. This did not last forever, thankfully; he grew to love Oz in his own right (even if he was somewhat abused in the household due to his fear of cats). There was the servant-master relationship, and that never went away throughout their early years. However, there was a friendship that grew between them as well. Where Glen would have been able to suggest or order Gilbert into action, Oz looked out for Gil, bullied and cared for him much in the way of a well stuffed toy. In many ways, Oz was not the perfect replacement that Gilbert secretly desired. Instead, he became a friend, and he was irreplaceable. That was how Gilbert was able to keep from going into a complete mental breakdown, and turned instead into a focused goal in where he would be able to get Oz back, with the help of Break and Sharon. There were of course, a few hiccups that came in the way of the rescue plan, namely that of Alice and the Nightray family.
Alice was not an expected factor in the rescue plan. Most likely in the original plan, Gilbert would be the one rescuing Oz from the Abyss, not the chain. No doubt he was disgruntled, but more importantly, his territory and friend, Oz, was threatened. He had devoted ten years of lies, assassinations, and spying for Oz, and he did not want to lose him to a Chain. It is well known that illegal contractors do not have a long lifespan. Not only that, but Alice appeared to be rude, disrespectful, and a strain on Oz's patience and time. However, as time went on, he got to know her better, and saw that she was able to give the emotional support that Oz needed from time to time; she was also an apt excuse for his master to go out and have fun, and not focus on the things that bothered him the most. While this didn't mean the snapping and snarling went away when Gilbert and Alice are both agitated, they were both able to put their differences aside for something important: protecting Oz. Gilbert could no longer entertain the thoughts of killing Alice for Oz's sake. He had, in his own way, become fond of the girl-chain, and understood what she represented in his master's life did not threaten Gilbert's place at Oz's side.
In Gilbert’s efforts to bring Oz back, he was taken into his adoptive noble family, the Nightrays. The feelings for the people that took him in after Oz was out of his life is...varied, to say the least. It is not to say that Gilbert would not make the best of the situation, or not attempt to make a family of his own. Gilbert did try to respect and care for those who took him and Vincent in, despite of recent trauma. But that also depended on the attitude of the person towards him; Gilbert has never been the type to force himself on other people if he could help it. His 'father' he may have respected as the family head and no more; the older brothers were consistently a quiet and steady conflict over Gilbert and Vincent being adopted, and thus not 'good enough' for the Ducal house. It's unknown of how well he got along with his adopted mother, and Vanessa seemed to intimate him with her temper (though this may apply with women in general).
Amongst the adoptive Nightray family, he got along with Elliot, the youngest, best. Not only was Elliot devoted to the idea of honor, he was also the most open to the idea of having a new sibling into the household. Though Elliot was angry for what he assumed was leaving the house due to cowardice, Gilbert had patience and care when it came for his younger brother; he was willing to answer any of his questions even when exhausted. He was more surprised than angry when Elliot snapped and snarled at him for his so called lack of ‘family honor’. Given the chance, Gilbert would have done what he could to mend ties with his brother. But there was no time, and he mourned quietly, without letting himself sleep or cry. It is these little indicators that show how much Gilbert cares for a person.
On the issue of loyalty, and Gilbert in general, Vincent, has greater understanding then the majority of their canon mates. Most of Vincent's understanding could due to living together for so long. Since day one, Gilbert did everything he could for his so called cursed sibling when they were given up by their parents, feeling the burden for years on too small shoulders. Once adopted into the Baskerville household however, that was put to an end. With it came the relationship shift; for a while, they became almost equal, equally devoted to each other and loving each others as brothers at that age even. Then there was another shift, as they fell through time to a brave new world, forced apart for about four to five years. With were the memories that Vincent remembered, and did not reveal because Gilbert was too liable to break if he learned before he was ready. This continued for years, causing feelings of distrust, anger, and even betrayal on Gilberts part.
Vincent was, however, devoted to his brother, remembering forgotten promises and how his big brother used to be; everything he did in his own skewed way was to protect and help Gilbert flourish. Gilbert, in return, tried to protect his brother, and show how much he cared by being honest. By this point in their life, however, their love is unequal. Gilbert still loves Vincent, and is concerned what he does for his sake; when the head hunter came to assassinate members of the Nightray family, Gilbert moved out to make himself into a viable target, even when he was poisoned. Vincent understood Gilbert better than most people; he never felt acted betrayed by what Gilbert did.
On Gilberts part, he tried to give his younger brother respect, as much as he could. He never questioned him too hard, only knocked him down when upset at how Vincent believed Gilbert didn’t need to understand; that Vincent could shoulder the burden on his own.He still tried his best after the scolding to ensure that Vincent wasn't hurt-even if he had killed members of their adoptive family. Gilbert, though often unsure what to make of Vincent's overt displays of love and affection, cares for him deeply. The only person that could, and has gotten between them is his master.
For all that Gilbert has his many, many flaws and amusing ticks, Gilbert is at heart a sensitive man, kind to the core. To truly be a friend to him, this truth needs to be respected as it is and not taken advantage of. Once this is done, a person may be able to count on Gilbert to be teased, bullied, and most of all, a loyal friend for the rest of their life..

Tells me to talk to others. Use this stupid device even. Stay away from that traitor, and make friends. How can I make friends when he might get hurt? I’m supposed to protect him from people like him, even if he isn’t acting at all like-
[He pauses. Squints at the device. And his expression changes from cross to mortified.]
Oh. It's on?
[He stares, even as his face goes red, and he fliddles with his hat, trying to adjust it on his head. It doesn't work so well. He looks away, clearing his throat, before looking back to the camera. His mortification is hidden now-though he might be a little red faced.]
Excuse me. If anyone does know how to leave this place, I would be thankful. There’s no need to confirm if you don’t know. No offense to those dead or enjoying their stay, but the situation is dangerous at home. I need to leave. There's people there that need me. It's-more than life or death. It's not my life or death but-
[He pauses. Takes in a deep breath.]
If there’s any clues or hints in how to return home, I would be thankful. I can cook, or bake something in return for information. Nothing. Else. I’m not doing that thing if I can help it. .
[With that, he shuts off the device.]
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
He didn't want to sleep anymore. There was something that might happen. Was he dying? Was he dead? Was he about to wake up to Oz and his gentle eyes, being scolded for staying awake for far too long for his own good again? He couldn't remember. He couldn't remember when he fell asleep. When did he fall asleep? When did it all turn into a dream of muddled thoughts. The anxiety was choking him, but he couldn't wake up. He couldn't remember how. How was he supposed to wake up again?
In his minds eye, he saw a man's head roll out of delicate crystal. It settled on the ground, one eye still perfectly preserved, the expression lazy, wondering why he wasn't still asleep.
Glen's head.
Gilbert woke up gasping, a hand to his chest.
He remembered. He remembered everything now. He bowed his head over himself, choking out a sob. He looked to his hands, feeling a burning against his wrist. Something was wrong here. Something was so wrong, and he was not sure what it was at first.
He remembered everything. What Glen had been to him in truth. The trust. The love. Especially the love and tender care. It kept hitting him over and over, all of the memories, the thoughts, how he had felt-his Masters smile.
Masters smile. It was gone. Forever. It had vanished a hundred years ago.
Gilbert didn’t remember curling up into a ball. The stone underneath his knees felt hard and cold. Stable. More stable than his breaking heart. That was good; he preferred it this way. The coldness. The pain of rough stone against his legs. His hands and forehead scraped against the stone, as the trembling became violent shakes. Blood from the gun shoot made his clothes sticky. In the back of his mind, faintly, he knew there was pain from the wound. But he didn’t care. He started rocking, fingers digging into his knees.
The memories could not stop. Wouldn’t stop. Why should it stop? He deserved to suffer. He didn’t know what this place was for, but he did not think about it. Didn’t want to, or need to.
Gilbert deserved to die from suffering, in his eyes. But he was most likely to die from a broken heart. .

Gilbert woke up gasping, a hand to his chest.

But he was most likely to die from a broken heart. .
